About

The Harper Family was established in Chesapeake, VA with a background in natural foods and farms. We strongly believe, as a farmer committed to sustainable practices, choosing organic foods and free-range animal products offers several advantages over processed foods:

Health Benefits: Organic foods are produced without synthetic chemicals, reducing consumers’ exposure to pesticide residues.  Additionally, free-range animals have access to diverse, natural diets, leading to healthier meat and eggs.

Environmental Sustainability: Organic farming promotes ecological balance and conserves biodiversity by avoiding synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.  Free-range practices support animal welfare and contribute to healthier ecosystems.

Animal Welfare: Free-range systems allow animals to engage in natural behaviors, improving their quality of life.  Organic farming standards often include humane treatment protocols, ensuring animals are raised ethically.

Nutritional Value: Some studies suggest organic foods may contain higher concentrations of certain nutrients and antioxidants, potentially offering added health benefits.  However, it’s important to note that the nutritional differences between organic and conventional foods are often minimal.

Reduced Additives: Processed foods often contain artificial additives, preservatives, and high levels of sugar and sodium, which can negatively impact health. Choosing organic and natural options helps minimize intake of these substances.

While organic and free-range products may come at a higher price, many consumers value the potential health benefits, environmental sustainability, and ethical considerations they offer.
